Academy Big Band with Julian Siegel
Award-winning saxophonist Julian Siegel, jazz professor at the Academy and one of the pre-eminent voices on the European contemporary scene, is an inspiration to younger musicians. Leader of his own acclaimed quartet, co-leader of the legendary group Partisans and collaborator in countless other projects, he recently launched the Julian Siegel Jazz Orchestra, which released its debut album, Tales from the Jacquard, in 2021. The Academy Big Band, directed by Nick Smart, is proud to present music from this release, which was commissioned by Derby Jazz and supported by the Arts Council England.
